Welcome to Speak Life! This blog is dedicated to dialoguing about the power of words and the impact communication has on our relationships. I am sure you have witnessed or experienced relationships riddled with misunderstanding, frustration, piercing words we can’t take back and even dissolution because of poor communication skills. Unless you have majored in communication in college, the overwhelming majority of us never have an opportunity to take an interpersonal communication course. And unless you have been fortunate to see good models of communication in your family, chances are you’ve had to learn by trial and error. Yet, as Christians, we do have a model of communication available to us, and that is the Word of God. Speak Life! is a blog purposed to explore interpersonal communication issues from a biblical perspective. The Bible is rich with examples and models of good interpersonal communication from the Proverbs to James to the life and teachings of Jesus. While I have taught a variety of communication courses, including interpersonal communication for nearly 20 years and I am a disciple of Christ, I do not profess to have all the answers. And thus, I do see Speak Life! as a dialogue between me and you. I am looking forward to the journey together.
